Staff Agreement

Terms & Conditions:

If for any reason we need to cancel camp, for example if there are covid restrictions, any salaries will be paid on a prorated basis.

    1. ANY AND ALL CLAIMS MADE AGAINST THE CAMP AND/OR ITS EMPLOYEES OR ANY CLAIMS THE CAMP MAY HAVE AGAINST STAFF AND PARENTS, INCLUDING ANY MONETARY, BODILY INJURY AND PERSONAL INJURY CLAIMS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE BAIS DIN - BAIS AHARON, 1340 EAST 4TH STREET, BROOKLYN, NY FOR FINAL AND BINDING ARBITRATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARD PRACTICES OF THE BAIS DIN. 
    2. You will be employed at Camp Romimu for the summer of ‘23 – 5783. The camp season this summer is as follows:
      1. 1st Trip: Wednesday, June 21st - Wednesday, July 19th
      2. 2nd Trip: Thursdayday, July 20th – Tuesday, August 15th
    3. All staff will be expected to remain in camp for the entire season unless otherwise agreed upon.
    4. No refunds or credit will be given to junior staff who quit their jobs in the middle of the summer or before camp begins. The deposit ($1,000 per session) is not refundable unless the job offer is declined within 24 hours.
    5. If a staff member changes his commitment from whole summer to half summer, the job offer is rescinded for the entire summer. There is no refund or credit of the entire deposit ($2,000).
    6. Specific job responsibilities will be discussed at the pre-camp meetings. In order to maintain our excellent ruach of serious Bnei Torah, all staff are expected to abide by the camp guidelines that will be discussed at these meetings. These rules are meant for the safety of the staff and for the benefit of the entire camp.
    7. If you are selected for the New York City SYEP (Youth Corps), your salary will be paid by SYEP and not by Camp Romimu.
    8. Staff behavior both on and off campus is expected to be that of a Ben Torah (i.e., no smoking, no secular music, no secular books, magazines or newspapers, proper attire, etc.).
    9. No staff member may leave camp without the expressed permission of his supervisor.
    10. All staff members are expected to have perfect attendance to tefilos and must attend two shiurim daily. We reserve the right to impose a knas when appropriate.
    11. No staff member who is in 11th grade - 1st year Bais Medrash will be permitted to learn B’Chavrusah during learning groups.
    12. Staff members will be expected to attend their morning shiur on their days off.
    13. No staff member may bring a car to camp or drive any car without the expressed permission of the Camp Director.
    14. Staff may not have smartphones or any device that has internet access or Wi-Fi capability.
    15. Cell phones of any type may not be used in camp until after 9:30 PM. This is regardless of position in camp. 
    16. Specific guidelines will be detailed regarding with which vehicles staff members will be permitted to leave camp.
    17. Each staff member will have days off during the summer and must abide to the curfews and guidelines that will be detailed at the pre-camp meetings. Days off begin after the morning learning group and end at 10:00 PM.
    18. Staff will be expected to keep their own personal bunk/bed clean and neat.
    19. Staff members are subject to knasim at the discretion of the camp.
    20. If Bais Din, collection agency or lawyers, etc. are required to collect camp fees, all related costs will be the responsibility of the staff members and their parents.
    21. If damage occurs due to misconduct or negligence, staff members may be held responsible either alone or as part of a group at the discretion of the camp. There will be a surcharge added in addition to the actual cost of the damage. 
    22. Staff members who infringe upon camp guidelines may be asked to leave camp. Staff members who are asked to leave will receive their salary on a prorated basis.
    23. Due to the importance of continuity during the summer, any staff member who chooses to leave camp early will receive a prorated salary less 30% of their entire salary.
    24. We reserve the right to use all pictures and videos taken during the summer for publicity purposes.
    25. Staff agree not to post pictures or videos of campers or staff members on the internet even after the summer. The internet will not be used as a forum for discussion about camp.
    26. Balance left after the summer will automatically be charged to eCheck or credit cards.
    27. No refunds will be given to junior staff who quit their jobs in middle of the summer or before the summer begins.
    28. Staff members are expected to tip the Staff Rebbi $100 per whole summer. Specialties and lifeguards are expected to tip the Specialty Supervisor $80 per whole summer. 
    29. Counselors: Counselors may be required to return to the city the day before camp begins in order to accompany the bus back to camp.
    30. Junior Staff Whose Position Changes from July to August: We may swap the July/August assignment. For example, if you are a specialty in July and junior counselor in August, we may change so that you are a junior counselor in July and a specialty in August.
    31. Junior Specialties: Although specialties will have specific jobs, they will be expected to help other specialties and act as rotating JCs as requested by the Specialty Supervisor. Please note that there are times that we need to switch job positions. We will do everything possible to keep everyone happy.
    32. Lifeguards: Please send copies of your Lifeguard and CPR certifications to the camp office immediately
    33. All Staff: During the two-day trip in August, no staff members are permitted to remain in camp. Counselors, JCs and Junior Staff will go on the trip. All other staff members must make arrangements at their own expense to be out of camp during the two-day trip (three nights and two days). 
    34. Tips/salary may not be distributed unless camp fee is paid in full.
    35. Junior staff is required to pay the camp fee in full by May 1st.
    36. Camp Romimu is appointed as legal guardian of my son(s) during the time that he is registered in camp.
